With over 20 years as a licensed USCG captain and a lifetime dedicated to the outdoors, Capt. Scott Barmby’s career spans guiding, outfitting, media, and now the operation of Rock On Charter Fishing, one of the Chesapeake Bay’s premier charter and fly-fishing programs. Barmby has guided and outfitted hunters and anglers in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, North Dakota, Maryland, and Virginia. He has contributed to productions such as Benelli Outdoors with Tom Knapp, Final Approach TV, and the Foiles Migrators series. In 2023, Barmby founded Fly School USA LLC, and in 2024 he partnered with Orvis to launch and operate the Orvis Chesapeake Bay Fly-Fishing School; he also manages and runs the Orvis Hill Country Trout Fly-Fishing School in Pennsylvania. In addition to delivering high-level instruction and memorable on-the-water experiences, Barmby is a member of several professional pro-staff and partner programs, including Rapala USA, Orvis, Scientific Anglers, Bull Bay Rods, FFP Fishing Products, Hogy Lure Co., and G-Eye Jigs.
